Shipping Wars

I follow multiple fandoms, and though my favorite pairings may alter slightly, there are some that I absolutely will not ever give up.

I think I might be one of the few people on Tumblr who has mainly straight ships, too. I do appreciate a good BL/yaoi/slash fic, but at the same time, I don’t go out of my way to find them (unless it is a very specific, overarching pairing like Klaine). It’s not that I have anything against slash — the pairings/ideas/writing doesn’t bother me at all — it’s just usually the characters I end up shipping usually end up being straight for some reason. Je ne sais pas.

Anyway. Moving on.

Kuroshitsuji:

Ciel/Lizzy.

Yes, I know that the endgame is probably Ciel dying, and they’ll probably never get together. That doesn’t keep this pairing from being my absolute OTP.

I don’t have anything against Sebastian/Ciel, only that I honestly don’t think that their relationship is going in that direction, so honestly I can’t ship it. Not really.

I’m also starting to enjoy Snake/Lizzy, Sebastian/Lizzy (only on very rare occasions), Grey/Lizzy, Phipps/Lizzy, and Ciel/Doll.

Also, Nina/Maylene and Finny/Doll.

Sherlock:

I actually honestly don’t ship much in Sherlock; I love the Sherlock/John friendship as it is right now, and even though they love each other dearly, I don’t see it as a romantic pairing. Nor do I ship Sherlock with anyone else, not even Irene Adler — it’s out of his character to have a romantic relationship, as sad as that is, especially in this incarnation. Now, if they had kept the warmer side of Holmes as shown in the original stories, then maybe I would ship Hadler. I don’t know.

The one time I did ship Sherlock Holmes with someone was in a book series by this lovely author, Laurie R. King, which was entitled the Mary Russell series. The first one is called The Beekeeper’s Apprentice, and they’re all really brilliant books. I suggest you read them.

But within the bounds of Sherlock the TV show? No. I really don’t.

At least, I don’t ship Sherlock with anyone.

I am now a devout Molly/Lestrade shipper. I mean, look at this clip.

They would be so cute.

Look at Lestrade’s face and tell me they wouldn’t work out and be absolutely adorable on top of that.

Harry Potter:

I have multiple, but my OTP is Ron/Hermione.

They’re so hilarious and adorable, I can’t stand it.

I like HarryGinny, but at the same time, I don’t know Ginny well enough to really truly love her as a character, so I’m kind of ‘meh’ about the ship.

Neville/Hannah is my book crack and Neville/Luna is my movie crack.

I’m also really fond of DracoAstoria (even though Astoria never really shows up in the canon). I think it’s because I love playing with her character in writing, so I get to mess around and make up a woman who won’t take any crap from any of the Malfoys. It was very fun to write Antipathy.

Merlin:

OTP: Mergana.

I cannot explain to you how much this pairing means to me. It makes so much more sense to me, as a writer, to have these two come together, because they could help each other. Merlin steadies Morgana’s temper and hastiness; Morgana pushes Merlin to be more than he already is, makes him a little more decisive than he is now.

I ship Arwen (kind of), as well as Arthur/Merlin bromance, but no romance; I don’t see them as a romantic pairing to be totally honest.

Though there is that one Merthur fic that had me completely entranced but hush.

I also am starting to ship Morgwaine, because holy crap would that be sexy.

I mean, look at them.

There’s also Gwapple, Arthur/Sword, Arthur/Water, Arthur/Tree and Gwaine’s Hair, which, of course, dates itself.

Doctor Who:

I don’t seem to have an OTP for Doctor Who. I have pairings I like, but they’re fluid, and shift depending on my mood. Yeah.

I am a secret ElevenAmy shipper (I thought they were adorable) though I love RiverEleven and Ramy also.

When it comes to past Doctors, I lovedlovedloved TenRose. Seriously. A lot

I’m less passionate about it now, but it’s still one of my favorites.

And the whole split-the-Doctor into human and Time Lord pieces so Rose can have one and the Doctor goes on being so sad broke my heart into a thousand pieces.

I am also a huge Ten/Donna friendship shipper. Don’t come in between Space Man and Earth Girl.

The Hunger Games:

To be honest, I don’t like Katniss all that much. I love her dearly, but she’s not very decisive. I understand that she’s been plunged into this awful, awful situation and she’s struggling to find a way out of it, but she needs to trust more. She’s just…frustrating to me.

Anyways.

I ship Keeta (most people know it as Peeniss), but it’s not an OTP for me…honestly, if I have any OTP, it’s Finnick/Annie. You will find a beautiful photo manip of them here.

And then as soon as I find my OTP Suzanne Collins had to go and kill Finnick, which had me pretty much in tears for the rest of the night.

But yeah. OTP: Fannie. Or Annick. I think I like Annick better.

Baccano! and Durarara!!:

First of all, if you claim to be an anime fan and you haven’t seen Baccano!, then that pain you feel in your ear is me digging my fingernails into it. It’s absolutely amazing (if superviolent, so I’m warning you here) and I love it to death.

I pretty much ship all canon ships, but my favorite is probably Firo/Ennis. :)

Because they’re so cuuuute.

And you can’t talk about Baccanowithout talking about Durarara!!, in which case I am a violent Celty/Shinra shipper. I disdain Shizaya to be honest, because I don’t see it happening. They hate each other. I know that in fiction today a lot of instances of “I hate your guts” are turning into “I want to screw your brains out”, but I don’t think that’s the case with them. They literally loathe each other.

Plus Izaya is too much of a troll to ever get together with anyone. Or view humans as anything more than toys.

I’m thinking about writing a Shizuo/OC oneshot or something. I don’t know, I don’t generally write a lot of OC fics anymore (I’m breaking the habit) but this plot bunny is just not. Going. Away.
